One Season

One Season is something I just found about through a blog post from CNBC's Darren Rovell this afternoon. It's an interesting concept, explained on the OneSeason.com website as such:
OneSeason.com is a virtual sports trading platform with social features and content for sports fans. The system provides sports enthusiasts with a way to compete, interact and have a vested interest in their passion.
Though it's just starting (only 5 days into being open to the public, I think it could actually become pretty big. It's kind of like a salary cap league, except you're using your actual money and benefiting from selling high and buying low. The system is a little complicated, as the value of players is based on public perception, which inevitably takes into account more than just statistics, but it could turn into being a fun addition to the fantasy world.

The most interesting part is that, right now, OneSeason is giving people $10 to sign up and play, without needing to deposit at all. This will inevitably bring more people to the site and provide a larger market, thus creating a better base for the business. I really hope it catches on, as Salary Cap is my favorite fantasy game, and being able to do this for real money is something that could really be a huge draw.
